Freshmen Dorms

Jake narrowed his eyes at Evelyn, he reached over and smacked Evelyn across the head.

Evelyn instantly backed away, smile slipping off her face as a sudden flashback hit her. "I think you should leave now," she said abruptly, voice cool. "It's dark."

Jacob withdrew his hand and raised an eyebrow at Evelyn. "Um we're indoors? Why does it matter if its dark?" Jake paused and studied Evelyn's expression for a moment.

"Oh. Right." He said shoving his hands into his pockets. "I'll uh go then."

Evelyn bit her lip, cursing herself mentally, but she kind of felt like it was a little too late to backtrack now. Her reaction to him barely touching her head had been to ice him out. It wasn't a good sign of progress. She turned and headed silently to the door, seeing Nova asleep under the table.

She yanked the door open, swallowing. Half of her wanted to let Jake know exactly what her problem was, but the other half wanted to ignore it. She sighed, turning to look back at him. "Um, I guess I'll see you around then. For coffee or something."

"Yeah sure." Jake said, he went to give Evelyn a hug but stuck his hand out for her to shake it instead. "I'll see you around."

Evelyn stared down at his hand and then up at him, blankly confused. "What are you doing?" she asked, quirking an eyebrow.

Jacob felt awkward now, so he took his hand back. "Nothing, I'll go now see you around." Jake said turning to leave.

"Jake," she blurted out before she could stop herself. "Wait..." She wasn't sure what she would say but she really did want them to go ahead with the trial run at being "distant friends".

Jacob turned back looking at Evelyn. "Yeah?"

Evelyn stepped closer and steeled herself as she reached up to give him a swift hug, pulling back quickly. "Night."

Jacob returned her hug, and as he pulled away his face was inches from hers for a brief moment he almost kissed Evelyn, but turned his head swiftly. "Right, goodnight.". He said turning back to leave again.

Evelyn's cheeks felt warm. Feeling her stomach knot up in nerves again, she didn't say anything now. Her heartbeat was already accelerating anxiously and she figured it'd be a good idea for Jake to leave before things got more electrically tense than they already were. She simply nodded.

Jake bit his lip, looking at Evelyn. He could feel how tense things were between them, he knew how hard this friends thing was gonna be. Jake knew he should just keep moving forward and go back to his suite but instead of moving towards his suite he found himself walking back to Evelyn.

Pressing his hand lightly to her cheek, he stared into her eyes for a moment. Everything in him telling him not to do it. Jake was gonna mess things up, but he had to get it out. One last time. Before everything changed, so he pressed his lips lightly to hers, feeling that same same rush he felt whenever he kissed Evelyn

Evelyn hadn't been entirely sure what Jake was about to do and ended up completely caught off-guard about ten seconds too late. She blinked, frozen against his lips and attempted to comprehend this situation.

Do something! her brain screamed at her. Don't just stand there! This is all so not -

She raised herself on her tiptoes and kissed him back, cheeks colouring. What the hell else was she supposed to do?

Jacob's placed his other hand on her back, not expecting Evelyn to have returned the kiss. He felt those sparks within him going off as they kissed in the hallway, but he pulled away, "We should stop."

Evelyn inhaled sharply, composing herself for a moment even though her fingertips quivered. She flashed a playful smirk up at him. "You're extremely conceited if you thought it'd get farther than that." She reached up and flicked a lock of hair off his forehead before stepping back.

Jake couldn't help grinning just a little at that. "I know you to know that wouldn't have happened. But you know even just us kissing, like we did now makes things hard, you know since friends or whatever don't kiss and all."

Evelyn stopped her smile and nodded. "Yeah, um, you should get going. It's pretty late."

Jacob nodded stepping back away from Evelyn, he looked down at her clearing his throat. "Right well, for the millionth time tonight, goodnight." Jacob said turning around and walking to his suite.

"We really need to work on this stupid farewell thing," Evleyn muttered quietly, turning to go back to her suite. She closed the door, checked on the snoozing Nova and headed for her room, pausing to wipe her fingers over her lips before changing into her nightclothes.

Jacob had gotten up kind of early that day, he had seen Antonio leave for work so Jake was sort of just lounging in the living room. It was still pretty quiet since Seth or Ashton hadn't woken up yet. Which he was enjoying because he knew the second they woke up they would ask him where he had been just last night.

Seth, who had been engaged in a drinking game with the twins after they got home, woke to see a blurry world. He sat up, swung his legs over the side of his bed and stumbled to the dor, almost tripping over a purring Lucifer.

Cursing, Seth stumbled out into the hallway.

Ashton came out of the bathroom just as Seth reached it. "Mornin'," he greeted the blond sleepily as he headed for the kitchen. Seth grunted in reply.

Ashton fixed himself some cereal and went to the table, looking up blearily to see Jake. "Mornin'," he mumbled, rubbing his baggy eyes.

Jake looked up at Ashton, "You look like death, no offense. But other than that morning." Jake grinned at the exhausted twin.

"Seth 'n' Tony's fault," Ashton mumbled, almost dropping facefirst into his cereal. His head was aching so hard, Jake looked like a dark blurry thing on the darker, blurry thing that was the couch.

Seth burst into the living area in a flash of blond. "HELLO, LAST FEW DAYS OF UNSUPERVISED COLLEGE!" he announced, arms wide.

Ashton toppled sideways off his seat, groaning.

Seth pranced over to bounce onto the couch next to Jake. "THIS DAY IS JUST ASKING FOR FUN!" he declared. "AND I CAN SEE YOU AGREE! IGNORE THE LOSER CLONE - HE LOST LAST NIGHT!"

"I did not," Ashton mumbled from underneath the table. "You and Tony cheated."

Jacob raised an eyebrow up at Seth, straightening himself up. "What the hell did you guys do last night?" He asked.
