Streets of Manhattan

Luke bit his lip but said simply, "Bring it."

"Hmmmm..." James placed a finger under his chin going into a thought. Trying to think of a suitable dare for Luke to do.

"You have to run naked across the street." James dared him.

"Wait - what?! Dude, that's stupid," Luke exclaimed. "I'll do a stupid dare but not that!"

"No you have to! You made me pretend to be gay, and you know how I feel! I would have rather ran naked across the street than that. Unless you're scared? Cause if that's the case then Darko wins." James smirked, blue eyes twinkling mischievously.

"Give me another dare. That's a matter of public decency. I'll handle a phobia, sure," Luke said smugly.

"Dare you to jump on top of a cab and act like King Kong, bonus points if you can get some girl up there as your victim." James dared Lucas, since he was right about the whole decency thing he supposed.

Luke gaped at James and then raised both eyebrows. "Okay!"

How he was gonna get a girl up there....well, he'd think about that later.

He looked around. There was a cab idling nearby, and some girl had gotten out of it, a tote bag and books with her. Clearly she was a student here.

Luke strolled up to her, abruptly broke into a run and snatched the tote bag out of her hand. The girl squealed and he almost apologized by instinct but caught himself.

"Hey! Give that back!" the girl screamed, and Luke didn't bother telling her he wasn't going anywhere.

He leaped onto the trunk of the cab, and then onto the roof. The cabbie leaned out his window in alarm.

"Hey! Punk! Get the fuck off my car!" he yelled angrily. Luke ignored him and smirked down at the girl, who was watching all this with gaping mouth and wide eyes.

"You want this? I dare you to come get it!" Luke taunted her, waving the bag around over her head.

She frowned and then dropped her textbooks. Luke grinned widely as she scrambled up onto the trunk and then made a mad leap at the roof of the cab. He ducked backwards, avoiding the cabbie's snatching hand. The idiot was trying to pull him off!

The girl gave a scream of rage and climbed up onto the roof, wobbled and then suddenly looked a little afraid. "Give that back, asshole!" she cried angrily. For some reason, she reminded him of Evelyn.

Luke lifted the tote over his head and began thumping hi chest, making gorilla noises like the oversize ape in the movie. The girl (and every single person within fifty feet of them), stared.

Before she could slap him, Luke threw an arm around the girls' shoulders and continued his act. He couldn't exactly pick her up in one fist.

"Oh my God," she whispered, pulling away and climbing back down in alarm. "You're psycho!"

Luke dropped his arms, and leaped off the cab, landing on the hood this time, leaving a huge dent and the cab driver finally lost it, threw open his door and stepped out in rage.

He lunged toward the blond boy. "MY FUCKING CAR! I'M GONNA KILL YOU!"

Luke dropped the tote bag and bolted past James. "RUUUUN! AGAAAAIN!"

James had been recording this on his phone when he heard Luke yell for them to run again so he did just that, "King Kong has left the building!" He shouted, as they ran down the street he yelled to Luke.

"Hey fatty! Time you lay off those doughnuts! You left a huge dent in that cab! You'd think a real gorilla had fallen on top of that thing!"

Luke was too winded with all this running to do more than lift a hand as he ran alongside James, and flip him off. He wheezed and wobbled around a corner back toward campus.

After a few more painful moments of hiding among crowds, they lost the cabbie too. Luke leaned against the side of a building to catch his breath. "Holy shit - I don't think I've ever had as much fun in months!"

James couldn't even speak he tried to grab anything to hold onto but settled for falling to the ground, to laugh uncontroalbly. He laughed so hard his stomach started to hurt.

Luke was right he hadn't remembered the last time he had laughed so hard, "Oh my god...HAHAHA! I can't!" He choked on his laughter.

Luke slid down to sit against the wall. His legs stretched out and he exhaled slowly to calm himself, a smirk tugging at his mouth. "THAT was good. Last crazy thing we did like that was the Cody incident."

He nudged James' shoulder with a fist. "Damn, dude, you're losing your touch. Welcome back to Crazy."

James let out a long breath settling down from his laughter he looked up at Luke, "Thanks dude. I needed that and damn has it really been that long since I've done something crazy?"

Luke nodded, taking out his phone to check the time. "So....what now?"

James followed suit having seen that Evelyn had sent him a message and raised an eyebrow, "Huh?" He was kind of shocked that she did, he could have sworn she wasn't talking to him after he had punched Jake earlier in the day.

"I dunno, what should we do next?" James asked ignoring the message and putting his phone back in his pocket.

Luke shrugged as they started walking back in the general direction of campus. "I don't care - so long as we don't have to run," he added, shaking his head. "I'm out of shape. I need ot hit the gym."

"Oh god, same here dude! Practice is gonna be starting soon for me and I'm beyond out of shape." James said sitting up, he usually could do a lot more running but he hadn't worked out that properly since being here.

Luke stopped walking and raised an eyebrow. "Get up, princess," he said nicely. "Or do you need a carriage and footman?"

James groaned obnoxiously getting up, "Actually can you like carry me back? That would be great!" James grinned.

Luke scoffed. "Yeah, your egotistical butt alone weighs in about a hundred pounds." He stretched. "Seriously, what now? I'm out of ideas that don't involve running."

"I dunno." James shrugged and pondered what they could do, not that he knew that much of the city to make suggestions. He looked up at Luke and raised an eyebrow, "Wanna crash the bonfire?"

Luke grinned. "I wouldn't call it crashing," he replied. "I'm invited. You can be my guest since honestly, about half the building will show up. These types of events are never quiet." He paused. "Are you looking for an excuse to ruin Jake's night?" he asked curiously.

"Maybe, plus I can't think of anything else to do." James grinned.

"All right. Let's head back then. The thing starts in less than a half hour." Luke tucked his hands in his pockets as they walked back toward campus.
