Lower Manhattan - Beach

Ashton had parked and they had exited his car, walking along the boardwalk toward a less crowded stretch of beach.

Evelyn glanced up at the weak sun shining down on them and attempted to wipe her irritation away. Jake wasn't here. Thank God. She didn't feel like dealing with his short temper right then. Carrie nudged her.

"I can't wait to swim. I miss Seattle," she sighed wistfully. Evelyn nodded, distracted by her angry thoughts.

She pulled out her phone and texted Seth as she paused to kick off her sneakers. Change of plans. Coney too far. Turn to Lower Man. beach. D:

Seth replied almost instantly. WHAT?! AW MAN! D= D: D: Ugh do not change location after this!

Evelyn felt a smirk on her lips and knelt, picking up her sneakers by the laces and stepping off the boardwalk to walk in the warm sand barefoot.

Ashton checked his watch and then texted Antonio as he scoped the beach for a place to set up camp. Whens ur class over? Come to low Man beach.

He looked up and spotted a patch of unoccupied sand. "There!"

Luckily it was early, barely 1 PM, so the beach was much more deserted on the weekday. Ashton flopped down on the warm sand while Carrie opened her tote bag and stretched her towel out, placing her bag and hat on it. She looked over at Evelyn, who was still marching sullenly in the sand, kicking it up with bare feet as a slight breeze ruffled her messy hair over her face. It seemed to be making her angrier, Carrie thought, stifling a laugh as she watched Evelyn push her hair off her face and toss down her sneakers.

"I hate people," Evelyn announced bluntly, spreading a towel next to the others. "The world is too overpopulated with douchebags." She tossed her tote on top of the towel, threw her sneakers next to said towel, sat down and glared at the water.

Jacob had showed up at the beach, he had cut the engine of his car he got out and started walking on the boardwalk. He had taken out his phone to let Seth know that he had went to the beach in Manhattan so he wouldn't drive all the way out to Coney Island that is if he wanted to go or not.

Jake had walked for awhile, there wasn't too many people out given it was during the week, but he still didn't feel like being near too many people. Jake put his sunglasses on and took off his shoes holding them in his hands, he found a less crowded spot, he set a towel down and lay down taking off his shirt just relaxing.

I don't have class, I get off work in an hour tho! I'll meet you guys at the beach. Antonio sent back to his brother.

"Tony's gonna be here in about an hour," Ashton murmured, setting his phone down. He got up and yanked off his shirt, already in his swimming trunks. Picking up his phone again, he glanced around the beach. Where were Seth and Jake?

He called Seht first and Seth told him he was on his way over. Puzzled, Ashton dialed Jake.

Evelyn had already begun to feel the sunlight getting to her so she reached over to her tote to grab her sunscreen, spraying it on her palms and starting to rub it into her arms and legs. "You tanning, Lola?" she asked, waving the bottle as Carrie stretched out on her back.

Lola had taken off her dress, already in her bathing suit. "Yeah figured I get some color or a foundation." She said placing her sunglasses over her eyes and laying on her towel.

Jacob could feel his phone vibrating and he answered. "Yo."

Carrie followed and yanked off her sundress. Evelyn, who was in shots and a cropped top, didn't bother.

"I want to go swimming," Carrie said, sitting up. "I'll tan later. Not much sun anyway." Evelyn nodded, digging through her bag; she grabbed a book and tipped hr sunglasses over her eyes as she lay on her stomach, reading.

"Dude, where you at?" Ashton asked. "Seth's still on his way here."

"I am at Manhattan beach, no way was I going all the way to Coney Island." Jake said to Ashton, as he sprawled out on his towel.

"...Coney Island?" Ashton asked. "Um...why - where the hell did Coney Island come from?"

"Uh Evelyn texted me saying you guys were going to Coney Island, and I said hell no. So I came here instead." Jake informed Ashton.

"Evelyn said..." Ashton trailed off, realizing exactly what she had done. He felt his shoulders shake in silent laughter. "Oh...well...um...see, I think Evelyn might have been exaggerating a few hundred miles..."

Jake raised an eyebrow, feeling his earlier frustration return. "What are you talking about?"

"Um..." Ashton could hear the ominous tone in Jake's voice. "You know what, never mind! Where are you? We're, um...on the east side of the beach, you can kind of see these silvery gray buildings...Come over here."

"Wait a minute... where the hell are you?" Jake asked, sitting up now.

Ashton cringed and turned to shoot a glare at Evelyn, who was reading and oblivious to the fact that Jake was clearly inches from exploding.

"Um," Ashton began nervously. He cleared his throat. "Lower Manhattan beach...I did say she was exaggerating..."

"What the fuck do you mean exaggerating! She fucking said you guys were going to Coney Island so I came here!" Jake finally snapped.

Lola who had been laying next to Ashton heard Jake's loud voice through the phone and whispered. "Is that Jake?"

Ashton glanced down at Lola and started pacing. "Angry Jake," he muttered to her.

He put the phone back to his ear. "Bro, relax, it was clearly a joke on her part. And -" he'd been about to say it was a good joke but figured he didn't want to die today, "And let's just forget about it. It's our last day to enjoy each other's company! Just get over here!"

Seth, who had reached the beach just then, texted Lola because Ashton wasn't answering. Where r u noobs? LM beach is crowded! DX

Lola nodded, when her phone buzzed next to her head. She took it out and saw a message from Seth.

Settle down spazz, its not that bad -__-. Keep walking its we're by like these gray buildings or something, on the east side of the beach.


Jacob took a deep breath, trying to calm himself. But he couldn't help getting worked up. Stupid Evelyn, but this wasn't exactly a step in the right direction. "Okay fine I'll meet you in ten." Jake said hanging up on Ashton, he tossed his phone into the pockets of his bathing suit picking up his towel and shoes to look for where the others were.

Bitch =D Seht replied nicely to Lola, tucking his phone into his pocket and thundering down the beach without regard to who he was stepping on. He nearly ran over a girl lying on a towel, nearly tripping facefirst into a picnic basket and then hopped over a kid building a sandcastle.

As he walked, though, he spotted a very familiar tan figure. Not many people were giraffe tall. "SALAZAAAAAR!" Seth announced, tossing his rolled up towel at the back of Jake's head.

Ashton shook his head and sat down. "Jake's pissed. Apparently Evelyn told him to go to Coney Island, but he got mad and decided to get even with her and just come here. Only now he realized we're already here and he's even more pissed." He glanced over at where Evelyn was reading, frown on her face. "And so is she, I'm guessing."

"Well if you wanted your day to get better, Seth is on his way." Lola added trying to sound happy about the arrival of her biggest annoyance but that didn't work over well.

Jacob turned when he heard Seth's shrieking voice along with his towel hitting his head. "Seth, I'm sure Jersey heard you. "Jake said bending down to get Seth's towel out of the sand because knowing Seth he'd throw some sort of OCD hissy fit about it later.

Ashton flopped back on the warm sand with a grunt. "Let's do everyone a favour and keep Jake preoccupied with Seth because I'm not really in the mood to see him and Evelyn battle it out. You know," Ashton sat up on his elbows and smirked. "Jake came home after midnight yesterday." He lowered his voice so Evelyn wouldn't hear. "He and Evelyn left the pizza place at like, four, didn't they? And he wouldn't tell us, yet again, where he was. But we all know well enough by now."

"Jersey can kiss my perfect ass," Seth announced, inciting annoyed looks from people around them as he grabbed his towel from Jake and shook it out on top of a girl lying on a towel nearby. She shrieked and sat up as sand rained on her.

Seth looked down at her and winked. "Whoops, sorry hot stuff." The girl narrowed her eyes and Seth grabbed Jake's arm and pulled him onward hastily. "Today is such a beautiful day! Look at all the beach babes!" he exclaimed happily.

Lola propped herself up on her elbow. "Oooh scandalous. I swear those two and their little forbidden romantic meetings. " Lola snickered.

"Uh huh." Jake nodded, not really looking at too many of the girls because of course only one seemed to be preoccupying his every thought. Even though she annoyed him to no end.

Ashton shook his head. "I swear, why can't they make it simple on everyone and just get together? They already spend enough time in compromising situations as it is," he pointed out bluntly. "Although I'll admit, she's been a bit...stand-offish recently. Ever since like last month, after spring break, you know? I thought she and Jake had a serious fight - not that Jake was in the best mood then."

Seth snapped his fingers inches from Jake's left eye. "Yo! Casanova! Wake up! We are eye candy here, in case you hadn't realized! Walk like it!" He strutted forward to show Jake what he meant and then flexed his arm, winking. "C'mon, bro, work with me here!"

Lola bit her lip, that was right Ashton hadn't really known about that whole demon thing. That was probably why Evelyn was still really stand offish towards Jake. But she really couldn't tell Ashton about it because well, its not like he would believe her anyway unless they had physically seen what they had. "Well, uh you know he just had sort of a rough month I guess but he's okay so I guess maybe they're just trying to fix things."

"Seth you look like a one legged chicken." Jake snorted watching Seth strut around the beach.

Seth ran a hand through his hair like he was in a mens shampoo commercial. "No need to envy my Greek God beauty," he informed Jake kindly. "I'm sure someday, with enough facial surgery, you could achieve the perfection I naturally have."

He turned and examined the stretch of beach. "Hey, look! Tall, gray buildings over yonder!"

Ashton sat up and looked over at the sand nearby. He walked over to the slightly wetter sand near the water and crouched down, beginning to scoop it together into a mound.

Jacob flipped Seth off as they walked he began scanning the people for signs of the others. "Do you see any of them Adonis?" Jake asked the supermodel.

Seth squinted in the sunlight. "Me sees undercooked pasta on the horizon," he informed Jake, pointing to Ashton hunched in the sand, building something.
