Carrie suddenly snickered. "Like an old married couple, oh the irony, huh?"

Evelyn growled under her breath as her damp hair clung to Jake's wet fingers. She pulled away, her head a mass of drying, frizzled curls. "Gee, the lunatic asylum look really works for me. Thanks."

Jacob snickered. "Oh shut up, you always look like an angry chicken Jigglypuff. A Chickypuff." He smirked.

"Yeah but old married couples usually don't throw each other up against walls and get it on." Lola laughed.

Evelyn glowered. She didn't, did she? She stopped glowering to ensure she didn't. Frowning, she replied, "Well you look like someone's regurgitated thanksgiving dinner - from two years ago."

"Oh God," Carrie moaned. "Please don't say that. I don't think I want visuals. We saw enough on the yacht!"

"Imagine what we didn't see." Lola shuddered.

"Yeah well, you're a booger." Jake retorted.

"Lola!" Carrie cried, aghast. "Stop! My ears are shriveling up. I do not want to think about my sister substitute getting hot and heavy!"

Evelyn glared openly. "And your banter skills rival Nova's but he has more bite than you do!"

Lola threw her hands up. "Hey I'm just saying."

"You'll have to excuse me I'm not feeling entirely sassy right now." Jake shrugged not really in the mood to fight.

Carrie cringed. "stop saying it! before you know it, they'll be at it again." She smirked as she sat up. "you wanna spy on them? I mean...Ev's taking a really long time to return a hoodie."

Evelyn smiled to herself. She reached up and ruffled Jake's hair, making it spike up in damp points. "I'm fine with that." She squinted at his head. "i Sonic-fied you!"

"Sure why not we've got nothing better to do." Lola smirked, standing up.

"You can be tails then since you're all like orangey and stuff and shorter than me." Jacob laughed nudging Evelyn lightly.

Carrie grinned and followed Lola along the boardwalk in the direction Evelyn and Jake had gone. She looked around curiously, honestly half expecting to hear the two bickering but all seemed quiet.

Evelyn Scoffed. "Orange?! if I'm orange, you're burgundy!" She lifted a strand of her hair off her shoulder, examining it hastily. it looked reddish as it dried. but orange?

Jake shrugged grabbing some of Evelyn's hair and looking at it. "Okay really, I'm like colorblind how would you expect me to know the difference of a girls hair color."

Evelyn struggled for a second and then exclaimed, "Orange is like...like an orange! How does my hair resemble that?!"

"Okay fine its like ginger-y." Jake said looking at it again.

"Nothing wrong with being a ginger," Evelyn said, turning to give Jake a look that plainly dared him to argue that.

"Actually..." Jacob looked at her hair closely. "Its goldy, I think and I don't know its a lot of colors. Geez you can't just have one color like me." Jake said

Evelyn took the lock of hair from jake's fingers, watching it turn fainly strawberry-blond-ish in the dying light. She frowned and looked up at his head. "your hair is brownish black. and I think I see a gray..."

"That's common. My dad got his first gray hair when he was eighteen too." Jake said lowering his head so Evelyn could get a better look at it.

"Nope, I was misstaken," Evelyn said. She tugged on a lock of his hair, yanking his head down even further so he was almost eye-level with her. she smirked. "Gray hairs would probably require some little piece of thinking to be going on in your cranium - and I don't think that happens often enough."

Carrie and Lola were standing a ways down the boardwalk, watching. Carrie bought ice cream off a nearby vendor and quirked an eyebrow. "They're talking...?

Lola squinted her eyes over at them and she said. "It looks like Evelyn is pulling his hair..."

"Ow." Jake mumbled, then pulled a face at Evelyn's comment. "Trust me, you get gray hairs from stress and being around you, I have plenty of that."

Carrie watched with interest at Lola's words. Possible violence sounded fun to her.

Evelyn glared, eyes darkening to tourmaline green. Then she smiled. "Aw, aren't you just charming?" She let go of his hair and took advantage of his being face-to-face with her to pinch his cheek between the nails of her right hand index and middle fingers.

Hard.

"Owowowo! Why do you always have to hit me!" Jake yelled, yanking her hand off his cheek.

"Bingo," Carrie said, smirking.

Evelyn let go, failing to conceal her laughter. "Quit being so sensitive." She turned away, amused. "If you need a moment to whine, I'll be just walking here."

Jacob narrowed his eyes at Evelyn reaching over pulling Evelyn into a headlock so he could give her a noogie.

Evelyn opened her mouth to yell something rude but her air was momentarily cut off when Jake's arm hit her throat. A squeak came out instead. She reddened and started swinging her elbows into his stomach. "Let go!" A tangled lock of hair settled in front of her eyes and Evelyn reached up to brush it aside, slapping at his hand.

Jake groaned loudly in Evelyn's ear. "I'm tired, hey wanna gimmie a piggy back ride?" Jake suggested.

Carrie quirked an eyebrow. "I have no idea if they're flirting or just being playful," she commented.

Evelyn felt her ear throb even though her neck tickled pleasantly. She winced. "If i want to die of asphyxiation under your but, I'll give you a ride, but I don't feel suicidal right now."
