"James?" Evelyn finally spoke up quietly, as the limo pulled into the hospital. Her eyes narrowed at him."Seriously, shut up. Not everything is about you."

"Yeahhh, James," Seth added on enthusiastically. "It's obvious she totally wants Ja- "

Evelyn reached around Ashlee and dug her fingernails into Seth's arm.

Seth screamed like a girl and toppled off his seat. "MOTHERFUKER!" he yelped, rubbing his bruised arm. He glared at Evelyn. "What is with you and Jake always harboring so much damn resentment, huh?"

Luke stifled a grin.

"C'mon," Ashton said to Jake, tugging on his arm to get him to exit the limo.

"I'm fine Ash, I don't need to go." Jake said stubbornly tugging his arm back.

"Jake, your stitches might be loose," Ashton said patiently. "You won't be able to go out tomorrow if you don't get them checked."

"Yeeeeahhh, dawg, even I won't be able to Jakenap you if you're bleedin' an' shit all o'er da place, brawwwh!" Seth added his two cents in.

"Yeah well they're not, besides don't worry about me ruining your time out tomorrow. I'm staying in, so thanks for the concern guys but I'm fine, so let's get out of here." Jake said clenching his teeth. Truth was he should be here, he was bleeding, but he'd rather go alone then with everyone else.

"Jake," Ashton began irritably, but then stopped as Evelyn stood up and squeezed past him out of the limo. "WHat are you doing?" he asked, puzzled.

She reached up and felt the side of her head. "My head's bleeding. I'll catch a cab or something, go on."

Ashton groaned. "Are you aware where you are?"

Seth nodded vigorously. "The Strip be dangerous!" He flailed and hit Antonio in the face. The girls between them giggled.

"Whatever," Evelyn muttered, feeling sick as she turned around and trudged into the front doors of the hospital, clutching her jacket to her.

Ashton ran a hand through his hair. "What...." He really wasn't sure what to do now.

Ashlee looked at the boys, one of them should at least go with Evelyn. This was Vegas and they were right. Plenty of creeps in this city, Seth was with them too.

Ashlee got up squeezing past the boys too, "I'll stay with her."

Jake looked up at Ashton, "Good you can stay with the girls too Ash, I'm fine so I don't have to stay." No way Jake was going to the hospital with Evelyn there.

Ashton glanced at Seth, who was now humming alongside James. Seth perked up and glanced at Jake.

"You scared of a chick? Seriously, man up. So what if she's here, bro?"

Ashton lost patience at this point, simply reached in, and grabbed Jake's arm, yanking him out of his seat to the floor of the limo. "Let's go. Now. I don't give a fuck what your fucking problem is with her but you're not gonna bleed yourself to death over it."

"News flash Clone." Jake spat yanking his arm back again forcefully this time.

"I'm not bleeding, some bitch spilled her drink on me. I'm fine! So quit freaking out! If I wasn't alright I'd say so!" Jake yelled, seriously annoyed.

Ashton threw up his hands, anger flaring in his eyes. "Fine, bleed to death for all I care." He walked into the hospital after Ashlee and Evelyn, annoyed.

Luke glanced up at Seth and James. Seth was now humming The Star Spangled Banner again. Oblivious to all the drama.

About ten minutes later, the girls and Ashton returned and silently returned to their seats. Ashton, still annoyed, took the seat on Luke's other side and spoke to the driver through the tiny window. "We're gonna drop the girls off and then back to Caesars."

Evelyn, who had a bandage strip extending from her forehead to around her head, said, "You guys are at Caesars too?" She winced and rubbed her forehead briefly, feeling the cut still stinging.

"Too? Seriously?" Luke exclaimed. "We're in the Rain Man suite."

"Lucky," Evelyn commented. She leaned over to Ashlee and said quietly, "Wait, why did you even drag me in here if they planned to go back to their own suite?"

Ashlee looked at Evelyn's bandaged head, "Really? You expect to still go out looking like the Bride of The Mummy?"

Jake had ignored Ashton, he knew he'd feel bad for being a jerk to him later since he had really been the only one out of the guys that hadn't really given him a hard time about Evelyn like Seth did, but he was just so annoyed right now and he really couldn't explain it. Here he thought he'd have a night to get away but it was like she was always there right behind him.

"Oh come now! You're going to the hospital with me. That's the best thing that could happen for you, since you know I'm your best friend and such." Jake bragged, reaching over and flicking her nose.

"Who promoted you and why wasn't I warned of the oncoming horror of my bad decision?" Evelyn asked, batting his hand away. She glanced at the cabbie. "Can you take us to the nearest hospital, please?"

He nodded at her and the cab pulled out down the driveway.

"Its that damned tequila I'm telling you. Also very nice red dress there Jessica Rabbit, Shaikro approves." Jake made a thumbs up at her.

"Thanks, here's hoping it survives the plunge off the balcony. You know, in reference to your commentary about Romeo and Juliet, this is a seriously messed-up version," Evelyn replied, leaning back in her seat and shutting her eyes. "Although I approve. If Romeo hadn't been such a twat, and really had shoved Juliet over her damn balcony, we'd never have to read that garbage in highschool."

"I never liked Romeo and Juliet, I liked Hamlet. You know since I was Hamlet." He informed her on his one and only acting stint in high school.

"I can see you playing the sneaky lunatic-who-really-wasn't-lunatic," Evelyn said thoughtfully. "I can also see you driving some poor, innocent girl insane enough to the point where she kills herself." She smirked at him.

"Yeah too bad we didn't get that far into it... see what happened was. It was time for that big monologue? You know the whole "To be, or not to be." crap. Anyway, believe it or not I got stage fright, and so since I forgot it. I had someone drop a beat and I made a rap. I was kindly escorted off the stage and then according to Mr. Forbes, the drama teacher. "You heathen have made a mockery of all that is William Shakespeare and are hear by banned from ever joining another theatrical production at this institution for as long as I am still alive!" Jake smiled.

"Aw, that's tragic," Evelyn replied, tutting. "He denied everyone the joy of seeing you in shiny tights and make-up!"

"Not to brag, actually yeah. But I have awesome legs. I worked dem tights!" Jake winked, as the cab pulled up to the hospital Jake took out the wallet and handed the guy some money for the fare, he slid out holding the door open for Evelyn.

Evelyn shot him a weirded-out look as she stepped out, feeling her feet start to ache just a bit in her heeled boots. "Did you really just exhibit chivalry?" As the cab pulled away, she tsked. "I see how it is. When we dated, you broke in through my window. Now we're trying for friends and you're holding doors open for me." She nudged his right side as she passed, grinning. "I can take a hint."

"I was hoping maybe you would invoke the making out privileges back in if I was extra nice." He winked, nudging her back.

Evelyn's cheeks warmed faintly and she shot him a slightly hesitant smile this time. "Well, don't hesitate to vacuum my suite for me, oh, and you can go ahead and bathe Nova, do the groceries, walk Nova, sort out my disaster of a closet and add on lunch to that. Weekly. Then, I'll invoke it back in." She smirked at him and sauntered ahead nonchalantly, even though, inside, her stomach was clenching nervously.

How did one go about becoming friends with their ex? An ex they weren't exactly over... Evelyn wasn't sure if friendship was exactly defined correctly by the way Jake threw in innuendos and flirted continually. Was it? How would she know when to take a step back and let him know he was crossing the friendship line?
