Fort Tryon Renaissance Fair

Alexis looked around before seeing "Costume Rental" painted on a wooden sign. "There!" She grinned and dragged Evelyn off to it. Rosemary fidgeted and looked over, seeing a booth with Masquerade masks and headed over there.

Connor looked around, raising his eyebrows. "Er...dude.. this looks lame."

Seth snorted. He watched a guy in a jester costume juggling beer bottles. The guy grinned widely at him and Connor and Ashton as he walked over, juggling.

"Is this place awesome or what?"

Ashton forced a smile, looking like he was getting teeth pulled. "yeah..."

"If you're a loser with no skills to pay the bills, then it's amazing," Seth cut in. "I hear they hire more monkeys than humans, do they?"

The juggler glared at him and walked off.

Seth turned to Connor. "And you say it's lame? I think it's an excellent opportunity, buddy." He glanced around, spotting Evelyn and Alexis. "Yo, I want a costume!"

He grabbed the back of Connor's jacket and dragged him toward the girls.

Evelyn was smiling like Santa Claus had just declared himself an abstinence advocate when the boys got there. Her green eyes were wide as she took in the costumes hung up everywhere. "These are so pretty! Find one, Lex?" Seth had never seen her in a girlier mood and it was frankly disturbing. He glanced at Alexis hopefully.

If she started squealing too, the world was about to end.

"Yo, I wanna be a knight," he said to the assistant. The guy went off to look for a cheap costume.

Alexis actually did squeal a little. "Evelyn, look at this one!" She said, holding it up.

Connor's eyes widened. "My god- the world is going to end..." He muttered, as if breathless.

Jacob and Antonio had stepped off the bus together, both of them relieved to be at the damn fair.

Jake had gotten a text from Seth while he was at work to meet up with them there, although in all fairness he thought these things were pretty lame and he was tired from having to open up at six this morning, but he figured it was better than doing nothing.

They both walked into the fair grounds, and scanned the crowd for their friends, since Seth had the brightest head of hair in the state of New York, it shouldn't be too hard to find them.

"There they are." Antonio pointed them out at the costume booth.

The boys walked over to Seth and Co, "Hey guys what's up?" Jake greeted the guys, Antonio waved at them looking around at the costumes.

"You guys are really getting costumes?" Antonio raised an eyebrow, amused that his brother would do that.

Seth threw Jake a frustrated look as he waited for the guy to come back. "We're dying."

Right on cue, Evelyn squealed, "Oh my God, I want this one!"

She held up a reddish-orange dress that strangely matched her hair, grinning at Alexis. It was a smooth [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] that flared at the waist but fell gently to form a train. Evelyn headed to the back to pay the rental fee.

Ashton was looking over some hunter outfits. "These look geeky," he complained to Antonio.

Alexis quickly went to pay the one for hers too, jumping a little from being excited. "They have hairbands too that are all colors of the rainbow and have flowers and ribbons twirled around them. It'd go perfect with the outfits." She grinned widely.

Connor looked over some outfits, making a face and decided to go with a black knight's outfit- more expensive but worth it.

Antonio looked at some of the costumes and they reminded him of the costumes people wore in those Shakespeare plays, "Um yeah guys, they're supposed to be lame. No one with a social life really goes to these kinds of things."

"I second that notion. So why are we here?" Jacob asked Seth, who looked annoyed of waiting for the dude bringing out costumes. When he heard girlish squeals.

He turned his head and saw Evelyn and Alexis, and his eyes widened. Not because they were there, but because they were acting like females. That was definitely a hard subject for him to grasp.

"Because they have beer here and idiots you can insult," Ashotn answered, pulling a fancy lord's outfit off a rack. He put it back. "Nah, I'll skip."

Seth nodded. "What he said," he said to Jake, cringing over Evelyn and Alexis' squeals. "We didn't know they were coming," he explained. "So now we're stuck with them. Not that i mind," he added devilishly.

The store assistant came over with a silvery knight's outfit. Seth snorted and took it, going over to pay the fees. He just tugged it on over his shirt and jeans, tossing his jacket off to Jake to hold. It was made of flimsy metal.

Evelyn headed out of the booth past the boys to where a changing tent had been set up, dragging Alexis with her. "Rose is looking at masks. Should we get one?" she asked, balancing a circlet on her pile of clothing. She barely noticed Jake and Antonio there, too immersed in the costumes. She entered the changing area to see it had been roughly divided into cubicles and she and Alexis took one each. Evelyn changed swiftly, finding it rather hard to pull on the snugly-fitting dress. She walked out, stuffing her clothes in her bag and letting Nova out (he'd evidently napped).

"Lex, zip this up for me?" she asked, attempting to reach the low zipper.

Alexis came out, glad she was skinny or else it'd hurt to breathe. She went over and zipped up Evelyn's dress before turning around. "Tie mine?"She asked. "I dunno, it'll get sweaty under those masks and our make up would run." She said.

Connor paid for the fee on his before going to changing too.

Jacob shrugged, he figured he might as well join in on the fun. Get drunk, make fun of nerds, and hey the girls didn't look too bad in those dresses since they accentuated their cleavage pretty well.

Jake was looking at the wall of costumes and picked out a dark knight costume, the guy went in the back and picked it out for him.

Jake handed his jacket and Seth's to Tony to hold onto while he went to change quickly, coming back out in his costume.

"Hey your costume is cool, I want one too." Antonio told the vendor, and the guy behind the counter informed him that Jake had the last costume in the black color but he had it in a blue.

"Cool, yeah I'll take it." Antonio grabbed the costume and went to put it on, "I'm not coming out forget about it!"

"Dude come on, all the costumes are lame just get out here!" Jake scolded him, Antonio stepped out reluctantly and Jake bit his lip to contain his laughter.

Seth was cracking up as he caught sight of Antonio. "You got catwalk model legs there, man," he said to Antonio. Ashton snickered along with him.

Seth headed out of the store. "Let's go already. This place gives me hives."

He waved his fake sword at some girl nearby, dressed in a classic maiden costume. "Heyy, Elizabethan babe, wanna take a turn in the hay with me?"

The girl's eyes widened and she hurried away.

Ashton cracked up. "What the fuck was that?"

Seth shrugged. "Medieval courtship. Where's the girls at?"

Evelyn and Alexis were putting the final touches on their costumes as they headed out. Evelyn stuffed her clothes and Alexis' into her large bag, clipping on Nova's leash. It was really hard to walk him with her long skirts trailing everywhere.

Yes, skirts. Because there were several layers!

Evelyn paused to adjust the circlet on her bronze hair, which she'd let down out of its ponytail to curl again. She adjusted the slipping shoulders that more or less came down to an off-the-shoulder design she hadn't counted on, baring way too much skin. "This sucks. I can't walk straight!"

She'd kept her flats on. She picked up her skirts in one hand so they wouldn't brush the ground, Nova's leash in the other and she and Alexis walked carefully out to where the boys were.

Ashton glanced around. "Where's Rose?" he asked Connor.

Jake wolf whistled at Antonio, "Dude I'm jealous, you make tights work." Jake snickered.

"Ha, ha ha." Antonio laughed dryly as they walked around the fair.

Jacob snickered and heard Ashton ask about Rose, Alexis' friend, he didn't know she had come with the girls unless she was putting on a costume or something, "I don't know, is she putting on a costume or something?" Jake asked.

A couple of girls dressed as maidens walked past Jake, both of them giggling and smiling at him, Jake winked at them and they both blushed continuing on their way, for once luck had been on his side.

Connor waved his toy sword over towards the masquerade mask stand. "The bitch went over there." He said, looking down at his own black knight outfit.

Alexis looked down at her outfit after letting her hair down- which was wet when she put it up so it was thankfully curled up and fell over her shoulders now. She thanked GOD she had picked thick-bottomed flats and that they went okay with the dress but however... she had to much boobs and this dress just proved that fact.

Evelyn stifled a smile at Alexis as they headed towards the masquerade stand where the boys stood near. "Do you want my sweater, Lex?" she asked sympathetically.

Nova caught sight of Jake a few feet away and began barking happily, tugging on the leash. Evelyn wobbled in the dress, attempting to not get tangled. "Nova, stop it!" She reached down, pushed aside her long trailing sleeves, and ruffled his head to calm him down. The sleeves of her dress slipped down to her arms and she straightened up, pushing them back up to her shoulders.

Seth wolf-whistled. "Damn, that was worth the wait!" he hollered at them, winking at Alexis. The other girls were cute, but it was probably Evelyn and Alexis' slight naivete that made them stand out in his opinion. Either that, or their very snug dresses. Alexis', in particular, was rather cleavage-revealing.

Evelyn flipped him off, straightening up.

Ashton headed over to the mask stand to go find Rose. "Hey, are you done prepping?" he asked her.

Jake saw both the girls, and he ad to admit like he had thought to himself earlier that those dresses looked damn good on girls especially them. Jake whistled as well, "Muy caliente! Roja!" He howled, at her as she stood up.

Although now they did need something to do, Jake nudged Seth, "Dude we need to do something fun these things can get boring fast! I suggest we joust, you know drink some beers. Get tipsy, steal a couple of horses?" His dark eyes glittered mischievously.

Alexis crossed her arms, then realized that made it worse and quickly stopped, glaring at Seth. "Fuck you, your damned knight." She spat.

Rose looked over from picking a white mask that covered the upper part of her face and nodded a little. "I was just waiting for everyone to get done."She smiled some and paid for the mask.

"No costume?" Ashton asked Rose, amused. "I think we're the only ones not dressing up." He led the way back toward the others.

Seth, who had been ogling Alexis, snapped out of his daze. "Huh? Oh..." He turned to examine the arena. "Let's get some beer first then? Are we staying with them or what?"

"You are not," Evelyn said crossly, as she and Alexis reached them - and kept walking. "Connor, you look gay," Evelyn told him sweetly in passing. She was still simmering at the incident on the subway. She and Alexis headed toward Rose and Ashton, who were walking over. Evelyn threw Jake a surprised look when she passed him. He cleaned up nice. But she was annoyed at Connor and didn't really feel like having Jake employ ten thousand nicknames at her, so she settled with holding her tongue. She flashed Tony a small smile though.

"What do you wanna see first?" she asked Alexis.

Antonio noticed Evelyn smile at her, and despite his sour mood for a crappy costume he waved at her, and focused his attention back on the guys, "Um I really don't care, whatever you guys want I'm down for anything."

Jake nodded, "Ditto, although I'm more than sure the girls don't want us following them and ruining everything for them but when has that ever stopped us once we've all had some alcohol in us." Jake smirked.

Alexis looked at her, feeling over-exposed. "Go down the trail and see what's here?" She asked, looking around and gave Ash a smile, which gave off that 'thanks for not being a douche' vibe.

Rose pulled on her mask, after pulling her messenger bag over her shoulders again.

Seth nudged Connor with his elbow. The guy had been strangely quiet earlier too. "Wazzup, bro?" Seth asked, frowning. "Red just insulted you and you let it go?"

For the hatred between Connor and Evelyn, that was a big deal.

The boys began trailing slowly behind the girls, sort of letting them lead. Ashton returned Alexis' smile and dropped back to walk next to his brother, trying not to laugh at him.

"Look, they sell liquor there!" he said, spotting a makeshift stand. "Cheer up, Connor."

Evelyn let Nova run ahead, loosening her hold on his leash so she didn't trip all over her skirts. She groaned and looked around. "Hey, look, a harp player....is that a Centaur?!" She grinned slightly, getting a bit over her crappy mood. The centaur clopped toward them, taking them in. He was about 25 or so, and average looking. He flashed them a grin.

"Afternoon, ladies," he greeted them. The harp player behind him, a young girl, looked over as she strummed a gigantic harp.

Rose's mouth practically hit the ground as she stared. "...It's a freaking centaur."She breathed, and Alexis grinned wide.

"Good afternoon." Alexis replied with a nod.

"I feel like i'm in some fucking game of World of War-craft man." Connor mumbled, swinging his toy sword around boredly.

Jake went up to the stand and got the guys some drinks and handed them out, he waved his sword around and slung his arm around Connor's shoulder, "Ahh yes but World of Warcraft doesn't have alcoholic beverages, or at least I don't know I don't play that shit. So drink up brotherians! And we'll turn this shit around." He proposed a toast.

"This is so bizarre!" Evelyn exclaimed, watching a nearby skit. She stopped and Nova dancing around her skirt, tumbled in it. "No! Nova, stop!" She bent and nudged him off her gown's hem.

A guy up on stage paused his acting to wink at them. "Hello, gorgeous," he said and Evelyn couldn't tell because of his mask (he looked like Robin Hood) whether he was talking to her or Alexis or Rose. She assumed it was Alexis since most males tended to address cleavage.

"Would you like to play a part with us? the guy went on. Clearly, to Alexis, since Evelyn straightened up and began walking again. She waved at Alexis to tell hr it was good before wandering on toward a dunking stand, and watched a pretty girl get dunked into water. Evelyn lifted up her skirt again, realizing the hem was dirty. She glanced around, noting a few male eyes on her, and started walking again.

Seth was swigging back his beer as they began walking again. "Yo, dude, by the way, that Rose chick is a bitch," he said to Jake, leaning around Connor. "She put on Alexis' ring assuming Connor and I were going to hit on her. Like fuck you, bitch, I'd rather go for Eeyore. At least she ain't all high and mighty on my ass. And what's that ring supposed to do anyways? Sure, it might hurt once but sheesh!"

Antonio and Jake both looked at Rose, Antonio wasn't sure if he had met her or not from what it looked like she seemed like a nice girl, although it was a bit cold to be wearing shorts, he would know since he was wearing female tights.

Jake had shrugged, he hadn't really even talked to Rose before, but he had heard enough from Seth and knowing that Alexis herself wasn't exactly a ray of sunshine he didn't doubt that her friend wasn't any better, he did remember that ring though that Seth was talking about, "Honestly dude? What is a ring gonna do? Like I get it they hurt like hell, but home girls gotta know that there are guys besides you who are like giants and they probably eat rings like that for breakfast." Jake stated taking a long swig from his beer.

Connor downed his drink and then spoke up. "The ring is destined to strike fear into the hearts of her enemies and curse them with shrinkage of their long pleasurable appendages and silence them for ages!" He spoke up in a medieval matter.
